Open Heavens 3 April 2025 MESSAGE:

Over the past two days, I have been discussing the significance of the events that happened on the day of Pentecost. On that day, everyone in that upper room received a touch from God. Their hearts were tuned to God, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.

If we truly want a revival in our generation, we cannot watch weak believers remains in their weak states. we must sharpen each other (Proverbs 27:17) such that the 'weakest' among us will be working miracles. If we're really united, we won't look away when we see a brother dozing when he should be praying; we would hold his hand to encourage him to pray. We will not see a sister dressing indecently and showing signs of backsliding without trying to encourage her faith. If someone's fire seems to be dying, pray for the fellow rather than use him or her as a bad example to others to yourself look righteous.

Everyone in the upper room on that particular day received a touch from |God because they submitted to Him and to one another - nobody felt superior. In the 70's, I knew a young man called Bro Sam. He wasn't a member of RCCG, but he was very popular because he was heavily anointed by God. He couldn't speak English, be he was so anointed and was well sought after. On one occasion, he was invited to preach at a college. When we got up to say that he didn't speak English and would need an interpreter, Queen's English began to flow from his lips. He didn't know what he was saying, but the message kept flowing. After about one hour, people began to rush forward, weeping and crying for salvation. As soon as he left the college, he couldn't speak English again. There were testimonies of at least three dead people that God resurrected through him. Whenever we prayed for the sick, he would describe how their sicknesses were moving out of their bodies until they were completely healed. However, pride entered his heart after a while, and whenever he was called to go for Bible study, he would say, "Who is preaching? How many dead people has he raised?" Sadly, he ended up in an asylum.

Beloved, if we want God's power to rest among us, we must shun pride and submit to one another in the fear of God (Ephesians 5:21). We must also look out for the feeble among us and lift them up.

Action Point

Shun pride and lift your fellow believers up

HYMN 24: I Want To Be Like Jesus

1 Earthly pleasures vainly call me;

I would be like Jesus;

Nothing worldly shall enthrall me,

I would be like Jesus.

Refrain:

Be like Jesus - this my song,

In the home and in the throng;

Be like Jesus, all day long,

I would be like Jesus.

2 He has broken every fetter,

I would be like Jesus;

That my soul may serve Him better,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

3 All the way from earth to glory,

I would be like Jesus;

Telling o’er and o’er the story,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

4 That in heaven He may meet me,

I would be like Jesus;

That His words “Well done” may greet me,

I would be like Jesus. [Refrain]

MEMORISE: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8

READ: Acts 1:12-14 (KJV)

12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 1-3

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

The first time the Holy Ghost came to dwell in man was on the day of Pentecost in Act 2:1-12. Jesus had told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they received the Holy Ghost ( Luke 24:49). The day of Pentecost and the events that followed defined Christianity forever. If only there could be a repeat of that day in churches all over the world; oh, what a revival that will be. There was a similar experience in Azusa, USA, in 1906, and until today, people are still talking about that revival. For the next few days, I will be examining what happened on the day of Pentecost and the implications of the events of that day.

One major thing you must note is that the disciples were in an upper room - they were separated from the rest of the world. While everyone around them was enjoying the Passover feast, they were in a different realm, praying, fasting, and yearning to go deeper in the Lord. If we we are to experience a repeat of that day, Christians must learn to live separately from the world (2 Corinthians 6:14)

You can not be engrossed in the pursuit material things like the rest of the world and expect the Holy Spirit to descend on you and manifest through you as He did on the day of Pentecost. You cannot expect to carry  the power of the Holy Ghost when your eyes are focused on worldly things. What you behold is what you will eventually become (2nd Corinthians 3:18) You cannot love the world and claim to also love God (1 John 2:15). You cannot keep listening to worldly music and expect to be filled with the Holy Spirit. What you listen to greatly impacts your life, and faith comes by hearing God's word (Romans 10:17).

In the upper room, the disciples were not distracted by mundane things. Their eyes, representing their focus, were single, causing them to be filled with light (Matthew 6:22). Their desire was to wait for the promise of the Father, and they did this wholeheartedly. To receive and manifest the Holy Spirit's power, you must seek God wholeheartedly.

Only these who seek God with all their hearts and souls find Him (Deuteronomy 4:29). Only those who separate themselves from sin and distractions will receive the Holy Spirit's power, like the day of Pentecost. Beloved, God wants you to be separate because you  are His (2nd Corinthians 6:17) and not of this world (John 15:19).

Action Point

Let go of distractions and everything that can keep you from being filled with the Holy Spirit.

HYMN 7: I am Thy O Lord

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice,

And it told Thy love to me;

But I long to rise in the arms of faith,

And be closer drawn to Thee.

Refrain:

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To the cross where Thou hast died;

Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord,

To Thy precious, bleeding side.

2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,

By the pow’r of grace divine;

Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,

And my will be lost in Thine. [Refrain]

3 Oh, the pure delight of a single hour

That before Thy throne I spend,

When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God,

I commune as friend with friend! [Refrain]

4 There are depths of love that I cannot know

Till I cross the narrow sea;

There are heights of joy that I may not reach

Till I rest in peace with Thee. [Refrain]

TOPIC: The Blessing Called Mother

MEMORISE: The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that l arose a mother in Israel. Judges 5:7

READ: Proverbs 1:8-9 (KJV)

8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 25-27

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Typically, children tend to respect and even fear their fathers more than their mothers because men are generally considered stronger and sterner.

A mother may not be as physically strong as a father, but she has immense strength in other areas.

I usually say that I am where I am today because of God’s grace and my mother’s prayers.

Whenever I did something that impressed her, she would say, “You will call one fellow, and 100 will answer.”

What she meant was, ‘You will be very influential.’ Today, God has blessed me with great influence over many people across the world.

When a mother is happy with a child, whatever she deeply desires and prays over the child will come to pass.

Beloved, Ephesians 6:2-3 instructs you to honour your father and mother (not just your father alone) so that you can enjoy tremendous blessings. These days, many children don’t even pick up their parents’ calls.

If you have parents, you must be intentional about honouring them because it is a prerequisite for God’s blessings and long life.

When I was younger, my mother would instruct me to stay back at home to study while other children in the neighbourhood were out playing. Thank God I obeyed her.

Studying my books helped me to ignore many distractions and achieve great things in life.

In appreciation, I took good care of her before she passed away.

I made sure that I saw her at least once every two weeks so that she wouldn’t miss me so much.

If your mother is still alive, or if you have mother figures in your life, ensure that you always honour them by being obedient and caring towards them.

If you are a mother, your role in deciding your children’s future is very important.

You must ensure that they are disciplined and focused on fulfilling God’s will for their lives.

Don’t pamper them; train them diligently. Don’t prioritise making money or partying over spending quality time with them.

Also, be willing to make sacrifices to help them grow up in wisdom, strength, and the way of the Lord.

I pray that God will bless all mothers with the strength and courage to nurture their children the right way.

If you’re married and are seeking God’s face for the fruit of the womb, I decree that by this time next year, you will be carrying your baby, in Jesus’ name.

Action Point

Get a special gift for your mother or the mother figure in your life today in celebration of Mother’s Day.

HYMN 28: Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

1 Guide me, O my great Redeemer,

pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but you are mighty;

hold me with your powerful hand.

Bread of heaven, bread of heaven,

feed me now and evermore,

feed me now and evermore.

2 Open now the crystal fountain,

where the healing waters flow.

Let the fire and cloudy pillar

lead me all my journey through.

Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,

ever be my strength and shield,

ever be my strength and shield.

3 When I tread the verge of Jordan,

bid my anxious fears subside.

Death of death, and hell’s Destruction,

land me safe on Canaan’s side.

Songs of praises, songs of praises

I will ever sing to you,

I will ever sing to you.

TOPIC: Don't Look At Their Faces

MEMORISE: Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 1:8

READ: Jeremiah 1:4-10 (KJV)

4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7 But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

9 Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lordsaid unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Many believers fail to share the gospel because of fear. The key to overcoming this, however, is to ask God for boldness and wisdom for each unique occasion.

I recall a time I flew first class because someone gifted me the ticket. I sat next to a man who I could tell was very rich from his appearance.

I really wanted to tell him about Jesus, but I was afraid he wouldn’t listen because he would think that he was above such things.

Therefore, I decided to go about it with wisdom. I said,

“Sir, I’d love to introduce you to my Daddy.”

He asked,

“Who is your Daddy?”

“My Daddy is a great chief. He’s into oil and gas, and He does some silver, gold, and diamonds. He also has a big farm with thousands of cattle,”

I replied.

Then he asked,

“How come I don’t know him? What’s your father’s name?”

I knew that if I said Jesus at that stage, I might lose Him, so I said,

“My Father’s name is Chief Emmanuel.”

That got his attention, and I was able to share the gospel with him.

When God called young Jeremiah to preach to the rebellious children of Israel, He instructed him not to be afraid of their faces.

The same God is with you when you go out to tell others about Jesus’ love.

He has given you His Spirit to teach you what to say, just as He taught me on that flight.

No matter how tough-faced or uninterested people may look, don’t look at their faces; focus on the One who sent you and deliver His message to them.

An adage in Yorubaland says that you shouldn’t fear the one you are delivering a message to but the one who sent you to deliver the message.

Don’t allow the fear of men prevent you from preaching the gospel. Keep your eyes on God, do as He has commanded all believers (Matthew 28:18-19), and leave the conviction and conversion to Him.

Once God is with you, nothing else matters. He’ll teach you what to say and how to say it.

Preaching the gospel is not about how excellently you can speak and quote the Scriptures but the demonstration of the Spirit and of power (1 Corinthians 2:4).

Beloved, surrender your life to Jesus today if you haven’t; He is the only way to salvation.

If you have surrendered your life to Him, ensure you share the gospel with others; don’t be afraid of their faces.

Action Point

Tell someone about the love of Jesus today

HYMN 20: Stand Up! Stand Up For Jesus

1 Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

Ye soldiers of the cross;

Lift high His royal banner,

It must not suffer loss:

From vict’ry unto vict’ry

His army shall He lead,

Till every foe is vanquished

And Christ is Lord indeed.

2 Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

The trumpet call obey;

Forth to the mighty conflict

In this His glorious day.

Ye that are men, now serve Him

Against unnumbered foes;

Let courage rise with danger.

And strength to strength oppose.

3 Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

Stand in His strength alone;

The arm of flesh will fail you;

Ye dare not trust your own.

Put on the Gospel armor,

And, watching unto prayer,

Where duty calls, or danger,

Be never wanting there.

4 Stand up! stand up for Jesus!

The strife will not be long:

This day the noise of battle,

The next the victor’s song;

To him that overcometh

A crown of life shall be;

He, with the King of glory,

Shall reign eternally.

TOPIC: King Forever

MEMORISE: The Lord is Kina for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land. Psalm 10:16

READ: Psalm 29:10-11(KJV)

10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 19-21

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

God wasn’t enthroned; therefore, nobody can dethrone Him. The devil once tried, but he was kicked out from Heaven (Revelation 12:9). God is King, and He is King forever.

When I say that God is king, I mean that He is King over all earthly kings. No matter how powerful a king is and no matter how much he has achieved, God is greater than him. In Daniel 4:1-37, Nebuchadnezzar thought that he could take the glory that belonged to God. God made him eat grass for seven years, and when he came back to his senses, he said, “God is the Almighty.”

If you are a king in your own right, whether in your organisation, family, state, or wherever, your reign is only temporary. You should submit to the One who is King forever if you want to have a good and memorable reign. David submitted to God. and up until today. Israel still recognises him as their greatest king ever.

Many years ago, I was invited to dedicate the RCCG national headquarters in a particular country, and I gave the church leaders a date in my calendar. In that country, government permits are required before hosting dedication ceremonies, so the church applied for a permit.

However, a man in the government was determined to stop the dedication. He said. “I have heard about this church. You plan to convert everyone and build churches everywhere; that will not work here.” The church leaders called me to report the situation, and to be honest, l didn’t even pray about it.

The day the man was to attend a meeting to conclude that the dedication wouldn’t be allowed to take place, he accidentally put both of his legs into the same trouser hole as he was dressing up. He struggled to free his legs until he fell and was rushed to the hospital. He eventually died with both of his legs still in the same trouser hole.

Nobody possesses greater power than God; when me decides to do something, Its better to cooperate with Him because He cannot be stopped.

Jesus is King forever, and all power belongs to Him. All souls are His (Ezekiel 18:4), including yours, and He wants you to surrender what belongs to Him. You belong to the King, and it is a blessed thing to belong to Him because you will automatically have access to all that He has.

Key Point

There is only one King who reigns forever: King Jesus.

HYMN 18: Praise To The Lord The Almighty, The King Of Creation

1. Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!

O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation:

Join the great throng

psaltery, organ and song

sounding in glad adoration.

2. Praise to the Lord,

over all things he gloriously reigneth:

Borne as on eagle-wings, safely his saints, He sustaineth

Has thou not seen

How all thou needest hath been

Granted in what he ordaineth?

3. Praise to the Lord,

Who doth prosper thy way and defend thee;

Surely his goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee;

ponder anew, What the almighty can do

Who with his love doth befriend thee.

4. Praise to the Lord!

O let all that is in me adore him!

All that has breath join with Abraham’s Seed to adore him!

Let the Amen, sum all our praises again;

Now as we worship before him.
